And so it happened, standing under this heavenly fire, with bare feet in the wet sand, which has seen the tide coming and going for much longer than humankind walks on the earth, that I experienced the essence of Nietzsche’s “Thus Spoke Zarathustra”:

“I will name you three metamorphoses of the spirit: how the spirit shall become a camel, and the camel a lion, and the lion at last a child.”

And I became the camel –
Humble, grateful for what is and feeling indulged with what life gave me. This humbled myself to injure my pride. This made my foolishness shine to mock my hallucinated wisdom. And that was necessary and righteous and helpful. And so I was really there, under the endless sky on the timeless ground.

For then, I became the lion –
The sheer power of the clouds, the fire of the sky, the infinite expanse of space spoke to me and made me realize, what freedom in the sense of sovereignty is within me and how self-determined I am in this world to shape my steps, my breath, my thoughts and therefore my day’s work. To become a lion, I had to be a camel first. Without being born out of a camel spirit, the lion spirit might drown in its own might.
